Our History
The Cotton Patch Gold Mine located in
the northern portion of Stanly
County, near New London.
Most of the work at the Cotton Patch was carried out prior to 1865 and was concerned with the recovery of gold from placer material. In 1958, a trench was opened on the property and in 1961 the mine was opened for panning and material collecting.
In 1987, one of
the shafts dug on a large quartz vein was re-opened. This material is
occasionally mixed with the placer material and our customers usually have great
results in panning. Many customers have also reported finding lots of gold in
our quartz specimens!
